Make a list of things you’ll need to do in advance, including cleaning, home updates and shopping lists. Don’t be afraid to ask others in your family for help. Everyone can pitch in! Create due dates and hold yourself to them. By tackling tasks early, you’ll be able to relax and look forward to guests’ arrival.

If you are expecting overnight guests, it might be nice to have a few extra basics on hand in the event they forget something in packing. Think of your home as the coziest, most welcoming hotel your guests will ever visit. Grab a couple of inexpensive toothbrushes, travel toothpaste tubes and shampoo/conditioner bottles.

Create a Retreat
Just as you enjoy quiet time, your guests will do the same. Place a bottle of water, a couple of magazines and snack bars in your guest room. They’ll feel more welcome to enjoy some relaxing time in the guest room if you make it easy for them to do so. We all need time to wind down, especially with the hustle and bustle of the holidays!
