A ceiling treatment is the perfect way to dress up any space in your home. That’s why we’re excited about the barrel vault ceiling we’re preparing to build in a custom home in The Summit at BaratHaven.
A barrel vault ceiling makes a big impact by creating a curved or arched appearance that can include intricate molding and lighting details. But the big impact can be not so big-bucks when planned for a small room or space.
We’ve designed this barrel vault ceiling for a Durham custom home design; the treatment will be featured in the foyer of the atrium ranch and will include a beautiful two-piece crown perimeter and light rope. The two-member trim detail will be created with a 7-1/4” crown mold and 3-1/4” base molding. The addition of a light rope hidden behind the crown will add an ambient glow that will highlight the shape of the barrel vault. It will be a gorgeous way for the homeowners to enter their home and welcome guests.
This ceiling treatment is a great example of how smaller rooms – this foyer is approximately 80 square feet – afford the ability to do a special feature because it’s less material – less trim, less light rope, etc. If the room had been larger, it may have come in over budget. All in all, dressing up this small entryway with a barrel vault adds a lot of elegance and value without a lot of cost.
We’re excited to begin construction in two weeks; we’ll keep you updated as the barrel vault ceiling starts taking shape with framing around mid-October and trim in January. To follow the progress on this and all of our other projects, follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
