At DH Custom Homes, we believe it’s the little details that make a space perfect. From the finishing touches while building a custom home to the accessories and furnishings that fill the rooms, we put careful thought and consideration into each decision.
Both Denny and I love to furnish our homes with vintage family furniture. These timeless pieces bring such history and rich, classic lines to our spaces. In my dining room, I have my Great-Grandma Emily’s dining room table and hutch from the 1920’s. Denny uses the French provincial dining room set from our Grandma.
We’ve been considering painting these pieces to give them an updated and fresh look in our spaces, but just hadn’t found the perfect shade. Have you ever struggled with finding just the right color of paint? While frustrating – it’s so important to hunt down the perfect hue for your space.
Denny was in search of a shade of red that would add a splash of accent color in the room, without being too bright or overpowering. What do you think of these Designer-Recommended Reds from HouseBeautiful?
Of course – you’ll want to consider the fabric and accessories in the space and choose a shade that coordinates well with the décor. Most stores now sell paint samples which are a great option for testing a shade in a space before you commit to a quart or gallon. If testing a sample, be sure to view the paint at all times of day. Natural light and artificial light can change the way your color appears.
So you’ve picked the perfect color for your room? Now you’re ready to get started! Have fun with it. If you’re painting a piece like a dining room hutch, you could paint the entire piece, paint just the interior for a pop of color, or maybe even add an accent with funky wallpaper on the back of the inside.
No matter the project – take your time and make your decisions carefully. It’s the finishing touches that can really polish your space.
